Our Newsletter

Thanks for visiting Vinea’s website. Please read this page before using our site, or before buying anything online with us. We’ve tried to make it a quick read – and easy to understand. If there’s something you’re not sure of though, please get in touch.

1.                   Saying Yes to Us

a.       If you decide to use our website to browse or shop, you’re saying yes to our terms and conditions. If you don’t agree with any part of our policies, then please do not use our site. If you’re registering an account with us, or buying online, we’ll always specifically ask you to agree to our terms. If you’re registering an account then you’re also agreeing to be bound by them.

Oh, and you’ve got to be at least 18 years of age to use our website and buy anything from us. If you’re browsing, contacting us or making a purchase, then you’re telling us that you’re 18 and legally allowed to buy alcohol.

b.      Our website uses cookies; so by using our website or agreeing to these terms and conditions, you’re agreeing to our usage of them. Yes, we know, we’d rather have chocolate chip cookies, too.

c.       We might decide from time to time to change the details of our terms and conditions, and we’ll do so by updating this page.

2.                   Age Policy

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again:

a.       We won't sell wine to anyone who isn't 18 years old or over. Sorry, but that's the law. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

b.      If you are buying a case of wine as a gift - the recipient must also be over 18 years old.

c.       If our couriers are in any doubt about the age of the recipient on delivery, they will request some form of ID. If the person receiving the wine is unable to produce appropriate ID, unfortunately our couriers will be unable to leave the wine.

d.      Sorry to have to state the obvious, but once the wine has been delivered, according to your original delivery instructions, it becomes the recipient's responsibility.

3.              Security

a.       If you are nervous about shopping on the web, don't be. We use secure servers with state-of-the-art encryption and secure sockets layer (SSL) technology for the transfer of credit card information. Additionally, we have security measures in place to protect our customer database and access to this database is restricted internally.

b.      It is your responsibility to protect your password from being disclosed to any third party.

4. Privacy

a.       We make sure your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998.

b.      We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties. At all.

c.       As we said in 1.b, we use cookies. A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

d.      Links to other websites:

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

5.              Prices and Payment

a.       All prices are quoted in pounds sterling, and may be per bottle or per case, as marked. The prices include Value Added Tax, unless otherwise specified. Any delivery charges are additional.

b.      We accept payment by Switch, Visa, Maestro and MasterCard.

c.       Where a particular wine is part of a pre-mix case with a general discount applied, the discounted price for the case is relative to the non-discounted prices for the constituent wines.

d.      We reserve the right to terminate any special offer at any time, without notice.

6.              Availability

Wine is of course a natural product, and believe it or not it can run out. Vintages change too, and sometimes we may have forgotten to update this on the website as we’re only human too. So if you order a case of wine, and we can no longer supply it, we will get in touch with you to find out if you would like us to supply an alternative or credit you in full.

7.         Delivery

a.    Delivery is £7.99 per delivery address regardless of how many cases you order.

b.    We will deliver your wine to anywhere in the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland, the Highlands, Scottish islands, the Isle of Man and the Scilly Isles.).

c.    We deliver between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, excl. Bank Holidays.

d.    Orders will be delivered within five business days of payment being received.

e.      We’re responsible for the safe and secure delivery of your order, right up to the point they arrive at the delivery address. All orders must be signed for by a person who appears to be over 18 and authorised to take delivery and sign any documentation presented by the courier. Sorry, but we can’t accept any instruction to leave precious cargo such as wine in any location – however secure – without someone signing for it.

12.       Limitations of Liability

a.    Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude Vinea Liverpool’s liability for personal injury or death caused by its negligence.

i.    loss or damage was not foreseeable to both parties when the contract was formed;

ii.    loss or damage was not caused by any breach on the part of the supplier;

iii.    loss or damage relates to business and/or non-consumers.

c.    Subject to Clause 11a we will not be liable for loss or damage caused by you handling the wine. In particular, we will not be liable for spillages or breakages.

d.    You should also be aware of the following obvious risks and warnings:

i.    Alcohol should be consumed in moderation.

ii.    A case of wine is heavy - extra care should be taken when lifting it. If you’re concerned about the weight we advise that you transfer the bottles 1 or 2 at a time.

iii.    Red wine in particular may cause staining if spilt, so extra care should be taken.

iv.    Sparkling wines and champagnes can be volatile due to the build-up of gasses. Extra care should be taken when opening these – please keep you face away from any bottle.

v.    If the packaging has become damp, extra care should be taken to ensure that the case doesn't burst when lifted and bottles fall out.

13.          Customer Satisfaction

a.    If you are dissatisfied with our performance in any way, please contact us on 0151 707 8962.

b.    We try to resolve most issues immediately, but where this is not possible, we will keep you informed about progress until a satisfactory resolution has been achieved.

14.       General points to note

a.    We shall not be liable for any delay in delivering your wine if that delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our control such as, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, fire, flood, storm or Act of God, failure of ISP or telecommunications provider in connection with the performance of this Agreement.

b.    Vinea Liverpool may change or add to these terms and conditions for security, legal or regulatory reasons. We will not use this right to vary the terms of any special offer that applies to you.

c.    Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order for whatever reason or you have cancelled it in accordance with section 6 above. Title will pass on delivery of the products, provided that we have processed and received payment in full for the products.

d.    Relevant United Kingdom law will apply to these terms and conditions and the relevant courts of the United Kingdom will have exclusive jurisdiction.
